Carbenicillin disodium salt is a penicillin-derived β-lactam antibiotic, which inhibits the synthesis of peptidoglycan, a key component of the bacterial cell wall, and is most effective against gram-negative bacteria but may also have some effect against gram-positive bacteria. Now it has been widely used to replace ampicillin and can reduce the growth of satellite colonies during long-term incubations. Additionally, it can kill Agrobacterium after bacteria co-cultured with plant tissue during planta Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Recommended working concentration: 0.1-30 µg/mL.
